Successful Rocket Launch from Andøya Spaceport
Isar Aerospace conducted its second launch from Andøya Spaceport on the evening of 5 September 2026. The launch carried satellites on board and marks yet another milestone for the Norwegian and German space industries.
– I wish to recognise the thorough and extensive work that Isar Aerospace has put in on the road to the successful launch, says Director General of CAA Norway, Lars Kobberstad.
The launch achieved its goal of placing satellites into orbit around the Earth and marks an important step in the development of the Norwegian and European space industry.
The launch has been named "Onward and Upward" and carried five small satellites as well as one experiment on board. One of the small satellites is the Norwegian student satellite FramSat-1.
Safety is the top priority
It is the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (CAA Norway) that processes applications and issues launch licences for launches from Andøya Spaceport. Safety is the top priority throughout the entire process.
– The safety of people and property will always be the top priority. We are now awaiting the post-launch report, says Head of Section for Space Activities, Hege Aalstad.
Norway's first spaceport
Andøya Spaceport is Norway's first spaceport for the launch of orbital rockets. CAA Norway is responsible for approving and supervising space activities in Norway.
CAA Norway shall also act as a driving force in ensuring that Norwegian space activities are conducted in a safe and efficient manner.
